Today’s stress culture … for children and young adults
Young people today are confronted with a culture that sets unrealistically high demands
Having teenage children of my own, I fully understand how much they face ever-increasing demands in our society today, whether it be academic achievements, looks, abilities, or popularity.
They often find themselves overwhelmed and struggling to keep up emotionally, and understanding these feelings helps them to move forward from perceived challenges, issues and beliefs about themselves.
The inability to cope with emotions, such as stress and anxiety, is the focal point of my De-Stress Coaching work. Learning how to observe and understand these emotions and how to identify and reduce stress ourselves makes a huge difference to our general well-being, self-belief and self-confidence.
Intervention at the earliest possible stage to avoid escalation of problems such as exam under-performance, panic attacks, self-harming, body dysmorphia, self-sabotage by procrastinating or conduct issues, is my absolute passion.
I offer the coaching sessions on a 1-to-1 basis. Using and teaching practical methods and techniques (tools) helps young people identify stress triggers and the related emotions early, thus avoiding getting caught out by them. Moving from struggling to coping and feeling more in control of their emotions and / or situations will have a permanent effect on how they deal with stress in the future.
